Well over a decade ago,
Baen Books (a science fiction and fantasy publisher) started the
Baen Free Library. This is a website where the publisher gives away free electronic copies of some of the books it publishes. They realized that by giving away free electronic copies without encryption (ie no DRM) sales for the printed versions shot up. It also allowed readers to discover new authors.So, if you like science fiction, pop on over to the
